Have a success story about a dog you adopted from Furry Bottoms Rescue that you want to share?

Bryce (formerly Pumbaa)
I was looking for a little brother for my 7 year old pointer and started looking on the internet at the Humane Society. Almost by accident I found Furry Bottoms and started working with them. I adopted Bryce in May of 2011 when he was 3 months old and I took him home right after we met him at his foster mom's; it was love at first sight. Being a German shepherd/lab mix, he is smart, loving, outgoing and brave. He completely dominated over my pointer the second he walked in the house (I call him a wolf in puppy's clothing) but they get along great. He learns fast and I'm confident he will do great in the obedience classes we just started.
I learned that Bryce and his sisters came from Missouri and were rescued after they were abandoned before their eyes were even open. I just want to say THANK YOU to Furry Bottoms and all the others involved in saving animals in need and finding loving homes for them. Bryce is such a good boy and I am so glad I got the opportunity to bring him into my life!

Coal
We adopted a dog recently from you his name is Coal he was born 11/23/07. We never changed his name because it suited him and we fell in love with him the minute we saw him. He brings such wonderful joy and energy to our family. He's got a ton of energy and he loves sleeping right up in bed with us. My daughter Saralynne calls him her cuddle puppy. He's gone camping with us, to family visits gone even to the store and to the dairy farm for milk, and bank with us in fact all we have to do is grab the car keys and he knows we're taking him to go get milk or to store to buy food cause the milk store and bank gives him a doggy cookie. He loves the camera so here is the clip image which is the picture that was from your site the one we fell in love with and pictures of him in our lives. Thanks So Much Furry Bottoms for letting this Loving Puppy come into our lives.
Sincerely, Sharon, Martin, Saralynne & Kyle Mann Marshfield, Wisconsin |

Alex (formerly Dusty)
We lost our 9 year old Lab Otis last month & decided that our home was very empty without him. We contacted Furry Bottoms after seeing Alexander ( formerly Dusty) on their website. They were kind enough to set up an appointment for us to meet Alex the day after receiving our inquiry, since we were going to be in the Plymouth area for the weekend. We fell in love with him when he came running right up to Mark after returning from a walk. He was so sweet & gentle, he was on our minds the whole next week.
The following Saturday, July 16th, we picked him up. He was so good, handled the 2 1/2 hour car ride home like a champ. He has adjusted to our home, and is enjoying the backyard where the deer walk by periodically. This weekend we took him to our family cottage where he experienced a lake for the first time. After seeing his cousin Karl in the water he ventured in (with the coaxing & help of daddy). He seemed to enjoy the water after a while, & swam a little bit! He then went for his first boat ride, which he loved. I think I took over 100 pictures of his first day at the cottage!
Alex is a joy, we are so happy to have him as a part of our family. He is enrolled in classes starting in August to help him work on some of his commands. Overall he is so good, considering he is only 5 months old.
Alex helps us heal after losing Otis. He is just perfect for our family. Thanks to Furry Bottoms & Renae for helping make this happen so quickly...the timing was perfect for us, & for Alex!!!
Sincerely, Mark & Ramona Stoll |

Ozzy (formerly Monk)
We adopted Ozzy(formerly Monk) at the end of November. He is now 66#. He has turned out to be a great dog; he loves playing with the kids. He had a great time at Central Bark doggy day care. He was afraid of dogs when we got him and that helped tremedously. We had him DNA tested and he is an American Staff. Terrier and German Short Hair Pointer. He looks like a short hair with alot of muscle. We are absolutely in love with him.
Thanks for everything Jim, Mari Jo, Brandon, Cody Holmes |
|
Brittah (formerly Ants)
We picked up Brittah (formerly Ants) on March 13th 2011 and while its only been a month or two, she is definitely part of the family!
She is still a little afraid of adults (she is just a little thing), but Brittah and my 3 year old daughter Jerikah are inseparable!! They love to play Tug-of-War, Fetch, Tag, and watch TV together! They also love to play outside and Brittah runs right along with Jerikah as she rides her bike, they love going to sleepovers at Nana's house and everyone over there loves Brittah as well. Brittah is loved all around and is the PERFECT match for our family!! We could not have asked for a more perfect dog!
Thank you so much!!! Jason, Kareena, Jerikah & Brittah |
|
Molly (formerly Easee)
This is Molly, our dog that we picked up on August 23rd, 2009 from Mother Theresa's pups. In her two short years with us she has seen us through some very significant milestones in our lives. Engagement, to marriage, and now a baby on the way! Molly was the runt of the litter and we took to her right away on our first visit to see the puppies. She loves tennis balls, puddles, and SNOW---playing fetch is definately her favorite things to do. We just happened to be browsing this site when we saw one of her siblings Vada, formerly Ducky. Pretty cool to see them "grown up." Furry Bottoms was an awesome organization and the best place you could adopt a dog. Anyone thinking of taking in a pet, this is the place to get them. We are very grateful for Molly and look forward to many years to come!
All the best, The Campbell Family |

Shin
This is our new addition, his name is Shin he is a Japanese Chin. This is how we became a family:
I work part-time, I came into work to have one of my co-workers come bounding into my office she said "Tina I found you the perfect dog" then she was rambling and giving me phone information and really she wasn't too coherent! I wasn't actively looking for a dog, of course my kids had been badgering me for years to get a dog, but I also knew I would be the one providing most of the care. Our home consisted of 2 cats, 2 kids, a guniea pig and a fish so my hands were full!
I contacted Vicky who runs a foster home for Furry Bottoms and we spoke and set up a meeting time. She gave me all the information on what I had to do to adopt and what kind of dog Shin was. When I met him I was a goner....but I had to make this decision with my head not my heart. We arranged for more visits, one that included my home, one where I attended obedience class with him....I was still a goner!
Shin came to our house not knowing what a cat was....there was a little bit of fur that flew the first few days!! He had never been on steps and we live in a big two story- so his first night with us we all slept downstairs by him!! He had very limited time in a vehicle and He HATED the guniea pig, not sure why- the pig is in a cage! Shin did do some marking in the house.... which I was not happy with but was expecting!
It has now been 3 weeks and Shin is feeling at home! He runs around and plays, he goes up and down the steps like he's done it his whole life, no more fur flying-can't say they are friends but they can pass by each other without any issue! The kids are still taking him for walks and giving him fresh water, food and a treat after he comes in from going potty outside! The marking/accidents are very few and far between now and he has the run of the house whether we are there or not. We took him with us on Saturday for a 3 hour car ride which he seem to do okay with! As for the guniea pig....still no love there!!!
I had no idea how much love this dog was going to bring to our family- my 7yr old says he gives her hugs and then puts his paws around her neck- to which Shin just puts up with. Shin is also learning to "dance" courtesy of my 9 yr old son. I thank Furry Bottoms, Vicky and Carl-foster Mom and Dad and my husband for allowing us to bring this wonderful little creature into our home!!! He is a blessing!
Sincerely, Tina M Madson Green Bay, WI |

Boo
Here is a picture of Jeff and Boo. She loves to sit in Jeff's lap even though she is almost 50 lbs now. She does not realize that she's not a lap dog! Jeff and Boo will cuddle for hours in Jeff's recliner.
If you are wondering what is on Boo's nose, it's rawhide. Somehow she gets her rawhide bones so slimy when she chews on them that she gets a coating of rawhide on her nose. She won't let us wipe it off, so we let it dry and it falls off on it's own a few days later. When she gets the rawhide on her nose we call her "Pig Snout".
Boo is now 7 months old and is a total joy to have around. She still has some puppy moments where she misbehaves, but that's to be expected. We were so happy that she came to us potty trained and spayed. She's home alone 2 days per week and has not had any accidents in the house while alone. When we do get home, the toy box has been emptied and the dining room floor is covered with her toys. She must have fun when we are gone.
We are currently attending Puppy Kindergarten at the Oshkosh Kennel Club. We are about 1/2 way through the program and Boo is doing great. She listens real well at class and is learning so much. The classes are beneficial to Boo and to us.
Adopting Boo from Furry Bottoms Rescue was so simple. Once we saw her picture on Petfinder.com, we knew we had to meet her. Our two favorite dog breeds are Labrador Retriever and Border Collie, so getting a mixture of the two breeds was the best case scenario for us.
We love the fact that your animals are in foster homes, not stuck in cages all day at a shelter. It was neat to meet Boo's foster dad Harlan and get to know more about Boo from him. We hope Harlan will stop in to visit us sometime so he can see how Boo is doing.
As you know from our application, we were heartbroken over the loss of our 13 year old Lab mix, Zep. Finding and adopting Boo has helped to heal our hearts. We are very grateful to Furry Bottoms Rescue for listing your animals on Petfinder.com so that we were able to get the dog for us.
We would highly recommend Furry Bottoms Rescue to anyone looking for a great new friend. Adoption is truly the way to go since there are so many good dogs out there looking for their forever home.
Thanks again for everything! Jeff and Karen Hafemeister Oshkosh, WI |

Baxter
My name is Baxter and I'm a 5 1/2 month old sable collie puppy. I was one of a litter of five. My mom, Peggy, and dad, Gary, found me on line after losing their old collie, Shelby. All my siblings were adopted and I was lonesome and getting worried. Then mom and dad came to get me at the end of January after filling out an application and having a home visit.
What a great day!!
When I got to my forever home I found out that I have two collie sisters. Blue is 8 and quite the fancy lady. She teases me with dog biscuits and plays keep away with them. My best pal is Marli who is just 17 1/2 months old and quite the puppy herself. She has adopted me as her very own and we are always together.
We run and play in the house and outside in our yard.
We like to chew rawhides and play with squeaky toys. In good weather mom and dad take us for walks. I also have a couple of cat sisters who are great for chasing (we never catch them!).
In a couple of weeks I'm going to be neutered (OUCH!) and then I'm going to puppy obedience classes.
My mom says she's never known such a happy collie puppy. I smile a lot and wiggle all over. I'm almost 50 lbs. now and am potty trained. I can sit and shake hands too. Life is good here on the Lakeshore!
Love, Baxter

Brownie
We adopted Brownie on June 4, 2006. We met him on June 2nd, and it was love at first sight. We first saw Brownie on the internet web site, along with a few puppies that were up for adoption at Furry Bottoms. We had completed the application ahead of time, so we were ready to start "interviewing" the dogs to see if we could find a match. It soon became apparent to us that Brownie was choosing us! We were very impressed with Brownie's "people skills". We could tell that he had been socialized and was comfortable around people.
Brownie had been at the rescue for two months before he found us. During that time, he had wrapped both Mark and Lisa around his "little paw". We could tell that he was well loved and cared for during his time there. When we brought him home, he adapted to life in our house quite easily. We were able to crate train him in a matter of days. We also installed an in-ground fencing system which he also trained to quite well. We attribute this to both his natural intelligence (of course, we have the smartest dog ever) and to the time spent with the Youngs. They had worked on some preliminary training skills with him as well. We are proud to say that he graduated from Intermediate Obedience Training with flying colors.
Brownie is now about 16 months old, and has grown into a handsome dog. He enjoys going for walks, eating, chasing bunnies, food, barking at the paperboy at 4:30 AM, did I mention food?, and watching the world pass by. He has definitely become part of our family and has added a great deal to our lives. It is evident to us that Mark and Lisa Young truly care for the animals they rescue. We are grateful for their mission, as it helped to complete our family
Thank you, Natalie, Jay, Brent, Kelly and Ethan Brochtrup, and of course, Brownie |

Bear (formerly Jake)
Hi Lisa,
I am sending this e-mail to you to keep you posted on our puppy Bear (aka Jake) we adopted from you last September. Bear is now 9 months old and weighs 80 lbs. He has brought so much joy to our household! We treat him like a kid!!! Bear has finished puppy school in Sheboygan and is doing well.
He is interested in water, but not quite a swimmer yet. He is full of energy, but a good boy!!!
Just wanted to keep you posted and share in our JOY!!!

Nola
Nola has been a great addition to the family, She has brought so much love, peace and happpiness. Since she has joined our family I am eager to get and start the day. She is a wonderful dog.

Nike (Formerly Ronnie)
Furry Bottoms Rescue helped us find a great addition to our family. Nike was just 3 months old when we brought her home on Halloween, but she has adapted well. On 1/1/11 she turned 5 months and we couldn't have gotten any luckier as first time puppy parents. We firmly believe we can thank Furry Bottoms Rescue and their Foster parents for the well mannered puppy we are lucky to have. Nike was the runt of her liter, but don't let her size fool you, she loves to act tough. We were told she wasn't much of a snuggler, but her favorite place to be is on our laps. She could lay there for days. She is extremely intellegant and catches on VERY quickly. She already knows how to sit, come, fetch, shake, off, and is potty trained. We are working on stay, but she doesn't seem to like this one. She is too excited to stay and is always looking at us with her scrunched puppy face like, "BUT...I want to come by you." We are so excited for the next couple of weeks to see how she progresses as she starts her puppy classes. She LOVES little kids, or should I say loves to give kisses to little kids. They are just the perfect height for her to lick their cheeks (as proven in picture) We are so in love with our little Nike and would never change the process we went through to find her. We can't explain the feeling when we walk in the door and she runs down the stairs, with her little booty wiggling out of control to great us at the door, not letting us walk up them with out hugs and kisses. She is such a little lover and we cant wait to see her grow!

Sampson (formerly Sulley)
We want to thank Furry Bottoms Rescue for allowing us to adopt the most wonderful, polite and well behaved dog a person could wish for.
Sampson ( formally Sulley ) has been with us for over 3 whole months now (since 9/21/2010) and is a perfect fit with our family. From the minute he came into our house for his visit, we think he knew he was home for good. He had some pretty big shoes to fill. We had lost both of our beloved dogs this year, Sterling a Dalmation in Feb and Ringo our Golden Retriever early in July. Both had been with us for around 15 years.
Seems like Sampson has been here forever. Never a shy one, Sampson likes to share his loving heart with everyone he meets. Never a growl or bark at anyone or anything unless he is playing with the bigger dogs in the family. I think he is just trying to get their attention.
Sampson is such a wonderful, gentle dog. He still likes to jump up to greet people, especially daddy but we are working on that with him. As soon as you tell him "down" he gets down. When he does jump up , he is extremely gentle. It is more like him standing first and them very carefully putting his paws on you. My wife Paula has Muscular Dystrophy and he seems to know she has a problem and will not jump up on her. He is always very careful around Paula.
Sampson loves everybody, especially kids. He knows if he shows "the belly" to any kid, it is going to get rubbed. As a matter of fact he gives "the belly" to just about anyone he comes in contact with. Along with eating and playing his favorite thing is getting a belly rub. He loves to get his daily brushing but it sometimes is hard to do his back as he prefers to roll over so the "belly can get done.
Speaking of playing, Sampson thinks all creatures are put here for him to play with. Luckily for him we have 7 other dogs between our children for him to play with. Sampson's favorite buddy is our son's boxer Harley who spends a lot of time with us. Anytime they may seem to get a little too rough, all it takes is one word and Sampson will stop and lay down. The smaller the playmate, the more gentle Sampson is playing.
Sampson loves being outside and really loves playing in the snow. He is just hilarious when he chases and pounces on a snowball. Of course he flattens it but starts digging looking for where it went. He will bury his head up to his shoulders looking for it. He leaps through the newly fallen snow like a deer and plays until he is just covered with snow and then plays some more. Sampson plays fetch very well and will bring his thrown toy or chunk of snow back and drop it to be thrown again. His favorite is playing football. He never fails to bring it back to you.
He has plenty of toys laying around the house and loves to play tug-of-war with our boxer. He does have one "Baby" that he just squeaks and refuses to play tug-of-war with. Sampson will just grab it, roll on his back and make it squeak a few times before he puts it down and lay with it.
All the Grandchildren love him dearly especially our oldest who at 10 grew up with our other 2 dogs and was very broken up when we had to put them down. At times he would rather hug and cuddle with Sampson than play video games. Now that's amazing in my mind. Getting a 10 year old away from his games.
Two of our grandchildren are quite young at 4 months and 6 months old. If one of them makes a fuss he is right there to make sure they are OK. They just love his soft fluffy fur. Makes them smile all the time.
Our parents are in their 80's and are usually nervous around bigger dogs but they can't wait for us to bring him over to their house. They treat him like a new grandchild!!
Will continue to update you on his life with us and as soon as I can figure out how to download some video, will send that along also.
Thank you again for the love of our life

Lexy(formerly Callie)
Both Jim and myself want to tell you how much we are enjoying our rescue puppy from Furry Bottoms. In our opinion this is the only way to go if anyone is looking for a puppy, dog or cat. We were very impressed with the whole adoption process and of the care of the animals when we had our first visit with Lexy at her foster home. Lexy( we changed her name from Callie) has been such a joy, we have had her since November 11th,and she just turned 5 mo's old on 01/01/2011. She has made herself right at home and actually taken over everything including the bed( as you can see). We are so surprised at how fast she took to training. She knows certain commands such as sit, stay, come, leave-it. go bye-bye and of course go potty out-side, she is fully house broken. She is one smart dog!!. We are sure its because of the time, love and care she received prior to our adopting her. Its the great effort and expense from Furry Bottoms Rescue and her foster parents that made our dream of having another dog in our lives/home come true. Please enjoy some of the pictures of Lexy and her first Christmas with us. WE LOVE HER!!
Lexy(Callie) came to us with a story and has turned out to be a HAPPY ENDING for her and especially for us...THANK YOU FURRY BOTTOMS RESCUE.

Cooper
Here are the photos and I will include a movie of Cooper playing in another email. He's come a long way but only plays in the yard with Bosco when we are not watching so we have to film very quietly and is still a little freaked out by the camera.
Hope you enjoy seeing that Cooper is happy. We were in agility classes for about one year but I'm taking a break and we're going to try a Noseworks class to see how he does in that.
Hope you have a Happy New Year! Heidi |

MiMi
Here are some new pictures of MiMi at her new home. She has settled in and made herself right at home and has become a permanent part of the family, we all love her dearly!

Molly and Juliet
First we adopted Molly from Furry Bottoms Rescue and when we saw how much fun she had playing with Echo (my parents had adopted her from Furry Bottoms), we decided Molly needed a friend. We adopted Juliet about 6 weeks later and the two became fast friends. They look out the window, play in the house and in the yard, and go for walks in the woods together. Molly is part beagle and so she follows her nose and goes off ahead during our walks in the woods. Juliet stays close to me but will run up ahead when I say, "go find Molly." She tries to see her but being so short (part basset hound) she often can't see over the tall grass. They are very sweet, loving, kind dogs. They are learning to trust us more each day as it's obvious they didn't have the best beginning in life. We are very grateful to Furry Bottoms for bringing them into our lives. And I think Molly and Juliet are very grateful to be in our lives as well. Thank you!!

Sanjay
I wanted to write and tell you about the wonderful addition to our family. We adopted Sanjay, a 4-month old beagle-lab mix, from Furry Bottoms in August of this year. He is the sweetest boy and so smart! My 5 and 1/2-year old daughter, Alivia, loves him so much and he is so in love with her... they are certainly the best of friends! Our cat, Prince, who was also a rescue, and our pup have a lot of fun together too. Sanjay has certainly grown fast though... He's 8 months old and already 60 lbs!
Thank you so much to Furry Bottoms for making the adoption process easy, yet thorough. We feel blessed to have Sanjay, especially this time of the year. He is definitely a spoilt little guy and will be even more so this Christmas... My daughter loved shopping for his gifts!

Brownie
What can I say about Brownie? She has been heaven sent to our family. Brownie has been a loving, energetic addition to our family from day one. She has not had one accident in the house - not one! She has bonded with everyone in our family and loves to be with us all the time no matter what we are doing. Brownie loves every person, every dog and every leaf we pass on the street. At the same time, she is a kind, gentle dog who simply wants to be a part of the action. She is a snuggler and a kisser too. When I had surgery recently, she spent a couple of days recuperating with me on the bed and couch. Yet 5 minutes later she will be running around playing in the backyard with a tennis ball or Kong. Goofiness is also part of her personality. She will actually toss the toy to herself and spend many happy minutes playing until she is played out and collapses on the couch - no floor sleeping for this girl! She also has the best facial expressions. Brownie loves to sit in the sun and loves to stick her face in the snow. With her high energy and beagle-ness, we are working on some minor behaviors (like the fact that she will pick up just about anything including Kleenex, pencils, etc) but Brownie is HIGHLY motivated by food and positive reinforcement and has responded well to obedience class and training. We would not change one thing about our experiences with Brownie and Furry Bottoms Rescue. After losing our last dog 4 yrs ago to bone cancer, we were hesitant to become bonded to another dog, but Brownie has been a wonderful addition to our family. We love her so much!

Maddie
Hi Lisa! It was great to talk with you this afternoon! I so appreciate your follow-up and the opportunity to let you know how much we appreciate your efforts to save the dogs that we have come to love soooo much! |
Attached are some pictures of Maddie and Sasha :) Some of them also have us humans in them as well, but I think you can see from the pics that we are verrrry happy with our furry friends! Our holiday note wouldn't attach - I think because it was a pretty huge file, but if you can send me a mailing address, I would love to send a copy of it to you:) The pictures of all of us in the trees and by the creek were taken trying to get some good shots for our holiday card.
The picture of Maddie with the big golden is from her first neighborhood "Dog Pawty". She had a great time:)
I'll try to remember to send update photos every now and then, but please feel free to call or email to ask for them! I don't mind requests or reminders in the least. Also, please give Laurel my contact info. If she is EVER in the Milwaukee area I would love to arrange a visit with Maddie for her!
Sincerely, Sue |

Indi
We adopted Indi in March of 2008. Her first few months with us were very trying. Her life before Furry Bottoms was not one she wanted to remember. She was happy just to stay in her kennel and shut out the world. With the help of our other rescue dog Izzy, Indi slowly started to come out of her shell. She learned how to walk on a leash, play with toys and realize that not all humans were bad. We never gave up on her and were determined to rehabilitate her. She is amazing........she has overcome most of her issues. She walks for 2 miles every day and has even learned that the 5 grandchildren can be so much fun, and give great tummy rubs and lots of treats! Her physical scars have healed and most of her emotional scars are slowly disappearing. We are so grateful to Furry Bottoms for saving Indi and her puppies, Indi truly has been a blessing to our family. She has taught all of us how to live in the moment. And a special thank you to Renae for her caring soul and unique gift she has with special dogs. Indi, Izzy and our family are forever grateful. She still is afraid of the camera , but I did happen to capture her a few times!!
Although Indi will probably never understand what it's like to be held and cuddled as she had no one to teach her this when she was a puppy, she will sleep on the bed and will actually paw at you to be pet. She goes to the groomer or "spa day" every 3 months and as long as Izzy is there with her, she does very well and gets very excited to see her groomer. Some of her favorite things are walking, taking toys away from Izzy, playing in the snow and riding in the car, especially if our destination is the pet store! These are major accomplishments for a dog that endured what she did in her past. If this is as good as it gets, we are ecstatic because Indi is comfortable and happy.
Thanks again Furry Bottoms for all you do and believing in second chances.

Lucy (formerly Sparkles)
I just thought you might want some news and pics of Miss Lucy. Here are a couple pics of her. She's doing awesome. She is super smart and has learned sit, fetch and how to walk on the leash. We go for walks at least once a day (ideally I try for two) and she doesn't much care for the snow but she's got a parka and I'm looking into pet booties.
Thank you for taking such good care of her prior to my adoption. My vet says she's tip-top and was impressed that she was altered already.
Update: Well, it has been two months since I adopted Lucy, a Dashund/Jack Russell mix puppy and I couldn't be happier with her. She is a very smart girl and has already learned sit, fetch, and stay. She doesn't much like the cold, but who can blame her? Our first vet visit went very well. My vet says she's in great health. The foster mom at Furry Bottoms took excellent care of her. I encourage anyone to please adopt, don't shop, for a new dog or puppy. There are many other "Lucys" out there that are fabulous and need homes.

Aurora (formerly Sweet Nixie)
I wanted to thank you again for allowing me to adopt Aurora . She is just what Yoda and I needed. Aurora is the third dog I have adopted from a rescue. I have owned four dogs of my own. I purchased my first dog Mickey at a pet store and later found out he was from a puppy mill. He had some health conditions related to where he was raised and it cost me a great deal of money to have those conditions addressed. After that, I decided to adopt dogs from rescues versus buying one from a store or breeder. I decided that there were enough dogs out there that already needed a home. Additionally, reputable rescue groups ensure that the dogs are in good health and are up to date with vaccinations. As Mickey aged, it seemed like he needed a friend. I adopted Georgie from a Jack Russell Terrier rescue group. She was older and had previously lived in a home with a family. Due to economic and marital circumstances, they surrendered her to the rescue group. She was fully housebroken and just needed to be loved. Georgie and Mickey spent about a 1.5 years together before Mickey passed. Georgie needed a companion so I quickly adopted Yoda from another rescue group specializing in Jack Russells. Yoda had come from a local animal shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized. He spent about 6 months at the rescue before he decided I would make him a good mom. He ran straight to me and looked at me as if he had waited his whole life for me. Yoda and Georgie were great friends. Unfortunately due to her age, Georgie passed recently. Yoda was devastated and needed a friend. I waited several months and Yoda's separation anxiety worsened. I knew the answer was another rescue dog. I searched on Petfinder.com and found Aurora at Furry Bottoms Rescue. She seemed like the perfect fit for us. Aurora has been with us for about 2 months and it seems like she has been here forever. The most wonderful thing about rescue dogs is that they are so appreciative that you have given them a home. Thy some how seem to know that you picked them and chose to make them a part of your life. The breed of the dog or the pureness of the breed of the dog is not important. What is important is the fit of the dog with your home and lifestyle and other pets. Once that match has been made, rescue dogs are so eager to be loved that they will be very adaptable and will fit in quickly to your circumstances. If and when it is time for another dog, I will look at rescue dogs. I would never consider going to a breeder or a pet store. I have a button that says it all: "I rescue dogs, what's your super power?"

Lillianna
In the summer of 2008 I decided my dog, Bailey, and I should find a little girl to add to our family. I hit the jackpot when I found Lilly up for adoption at Furry Bottoms. She was described as "shy and super sweet" and was one of the cutest things I'd ever seen. We went to see her about 2 weeks later, Bailey and I loved her, and we took her home that night. I still don't know how I got so lucky to have found her. Never in a million years would I have though I'd come to know a dog who adores me the way she does. Lilly's motto seems to be "have Mom, will travel". She has gone kayaking with me, driven halfway across the country to go to dog shows with me, enjoyed camping trips, and many other adventures we have been able to come up with. She is regularly told by handlers at dog shows that they wish they could take her in the ring with her big smile and happy ears, she is an eternally happy girl. With the inclusion of mixed breeds by AKC for performance sports, Lilly has been the first dog I have had the opportunity to show in obedience. She earned her Rally Novice title and Canine Good Citizen certificate in the summer of 2010, and we are hoping to keep working toward more titles in the future.

Rembrant (formerly Issah)
I promised I'd keep you updated about Rembrant/Issah, heres the latest update :). Hes ajusting very well, after sleeping was a bit of a problem because he loved water soooooo much that he'd drink all he could during the day and then at night want to go out 5 or 6 times, and sometimes didn't tell me, but now with regulating his water, a good routine and learning to be able to hold it longer he can now go though the night without having to go :), also he's good about staying in his kennal during the day, we're stil working on him telling us when he has to go out but he'll get it soon. He follows me everywhere now, and sleeps in my bed, i gave into leting him go on the couches except when we're eating which i thought was a good trade, plus I got someone to suggle with. I'm starting to train him too, he learned out to sit in 2 days and now I'm teaching him to stay, and beg :) he's soo smart, and everyone loves him. He loves his new freind Bella. They run around all the time and play the game of 'I like your bone better then mine I'm gonna try and steal it" haha. OH! and i gave him a bath a little bit ago, he didnt like it very much, also we got him to stop taking food from Bellas bowl by using a squirt bottle he hates it but it does the job :)

Moses (formerly Jet)
This is Moses (formerly Jet). We picked him up May 7th, 2009 and can't imagine our lives without him. If we could of, we would have taken his brothers and sisters too! He has a great personality, is fully of energy and loves everyone. He likes to be chased by other dogs, play tug of war, and high-five for treats. He is perfect for us and we are so grateful to Furry Bottoms Rescue and what they do. Thank you!

Austin (formerly Tristan)
It's been a little over a year since we adopted this little dog from Furry Bottoms Rescue.
He was brought home to fill the void left by the death of Freddie, our Cocker Spaniel of twelve years. Freddie was Sara's sidekick, constant companion, and cuddling jellyfish.
Not just any dog could fit into those big furry dog shoes.
We didn't really know what kind of dog we wanted. Sara was drawn to Cockers, but I didn't want her to have a dog that she would compare to the Ol' Freddie all the time. After having Luci for a year, I had really fallen for the stubborn pigheadedness reflected by extreme loyalty that the terrier breeds offered. We found Austin on a website listing him as a fox terrier. He sure didn't have the makings of a true Foxy, but he was cute and we kept coming back to his ad. We decided to take the drive to Adell to see him. I wasn't sure he was exactly what I wanted, but the decision was ultimately up to Sara. We took Luci along for the ride - she had a voice in the approval process as well.
After introductions with his foster mom, Renae, we were introduced to Tristan. Yes, "Tristan" is what they called him. I wasn't too sure about that name, either. But he was happy, bright-eyed, and as cute as a big-eared who-knows-what-breed dog could be. He had this little rubber ducky that he carried around with him everywhere. It was just a little cheapo squeaky toy, but he carried it so gently that it didn't have a nick in it. Our Ol' Freddie would take toys like that and shred them into little slobbery bits in seconds. He got along well with Luci, and Luci seemed to approve of his big ears. We spent some time with him outside, too. We had just received one of Wisconsin's famous spring snowstorms, and there was plenty of the white stuff on the ground. That little dog would run around and plunge his whole head under the snow. We decided to bring him home and have him be a part of our family.
We re-named him Austin. After we brought him home, we were looking through his paperwork and made an interesting discovery. Austin, formerly known as Tristan, was originally named Fred. Hmmmm....co-inky-dink?
He has really turned out to be an awesome dog. He's about 2-1/2 years old now, and can run like the wind. He loves to have the opportunity to chase the killdeers in the pasture. He can't catch them, but he gives it his best try. I'd guess he can run close to 25 mph. He and Luci are always exploring together, finding gross things to roll in, hunting for kitty treats in the riding arena, looking for hoof trimmings in the manure pile. Good stinky dog stuff. With all of that type of activity, he has gotten used to bath time. He's a great listener, a great cuddler, and just a good lil' dog to have around

Vada (formerly Ducky)
This is Vada (Ducky). We picked her up on Aug 24,2009 My daughter waited her whole life to have a dog. She has been the greatest dog a family of 3 girls in the home could ask for. What a great pesrsonality. Loves to play ball ALL the time. We wish we could of had gotten 1 of her brothers or sisters as well. She is a people person for sure loves her attention a very smart and active dog. She is just perfect for our family. We love her soo much n couldn't imagine our new home without her. So happy Furry Bottoms rescued her.

Bruce
As a foster home for Furry Bottoms Rescue we have been a temporary stop in the road to a forever home for many dogs & puppies over the years. Furthermore, as former flunkies of fostering (we have adopted every one of our dogs from rescues we fostered with in the past) we knew not to get permanently attached to our fosters. However, from the minute we took Bruce in as a foster dog 4 years ago, we knew we were in trouble! Bruce came from an abusive situation but one look at his soulful eyes & we were in love. He was the sweetest, kindest, gentle giant we had met & at 165 pounds he really is a BIG dog, however, don't tell him that, he thinks he is a lap dog!. Over the past 4 years this beautiful boy has helped ease the fears & anxiety of many other foster dogs with his gentle nature & wonderful personality. He has helped teach them the finer points of being a wonderful family member & the basic skills of being a loving family pet. He is a big baby, and has become one of the official mascots of the rescue working meet & greet events for the rescue throughout southeastern Wisconsin. In addition, 19 months ago we welcomed our daughter into our lives. We wondered how Bruce would do with a baby & now toddler....as you can see from the picture, we had nothing to worry about, he adores her & has become her official babysitter! We are convinced that God sent us this guardian angel with fur for a reason. For all those people afraid of adopting a big black dog, take a look at this boy. He is the reason they say "Once you go black, you never go back"!!!

Louie
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are absolutely thrilled with Louie!! He walked into our house like he owned it and has been doing great!! It was almost like he knew that we were meant to be his. He is everything we were hoping for and his personality is perfect for our family. He follows around our dog, Lacey, like she is a goddess and wants to do everything that she does.
Anyways, just wanted to let you know that he s doing well and that we are so happy that we found him.

Lena
I currently foster for Furry Bottoms Rescue and Lena came to me in January of this year. She was abused and kenneled for over 20 hours a day. She was so shy and shut down that she would not make eye contact or even walk across the room. She hid most of the time and refused to eat. Despite the broken spirit I could see this loving dog that so desperately wanted someone to love and care for her that would never leave her again. Although I didn't admit it to myself until several months later she wasnt going anywhere. Lena was home since the moment she walked through my front door. Today Lena is a wonderful, outgoing, and sweet dog that everyone falls in love with as soon as they meet her. I couldn't imagine life without her.

Max
This is our story of how we met Furry Bottoms Rescue. It was 1yr and lets say 1/2 since we lost our three year old boxer Dakoda to "Sudden Death syndrome". Which we did not know was a common illness in the boxer breed.
We were devastated losing him. We could not think of even getting another dog after that. But as the days went by and then it was weeks, my middle son was on the computer and called me over. He was on different sites, looking at dogs to adopt. I told him, NO we were not going to get another dog, not for a long, long time. But, he kept looking. I was doing dishes one night when MAX'S picture came up. My son was frantic about me coming over and looking at him. He said, this is the one Mom, he is the one we have to get. Everything about MAX fit our life style. When my husband came home from work, my son showed him the picture of MAX. He said he looks like a nice dog and left it at that. I had already sent a message requesting more info about MAX. Even though my husband showed little interest in seeing MAX. Well to get this story rolling, we had our house inspection and the Mother's Day weekend we were on our way to see MAX at Cindy's house (his foster Mom). We liked MAX right off the bat and he was overwhelmed by all the interest being shown to him. So, he was alittle stand offish. But that didn't stop us from wanting to make friends with him. I think we were at Cindy's house for over 2hrs, when the papers were signed and pictures taken, we were off heading home with MAX. What a good boy in the car. It was a long way home to Racine, Wi. When we got there, finally, Max was investigating everything outside and then inside there was more to see. Well, because we have 5 cats. We did not know how MAX would be, but everything turned out just fine. Max, we were told did not play, he was happy to lay around, eat and sleep. He liked belly rubs alot. We could not figure out why MAX did not play. Only MAX knew and he could not tell us about his background. So days went by and MAX settled in just fine. We have had MAX now 1yr and 4months and we LOVE him so very much.

Sparky
As a foster home for Furry Bottoms with a house already full of dogs, we never intended to adopt another one. Enter Sparky, a Cairn terrier suffering from allergies so badly he was nearly bald. After a few months he was back in shape and quite full of himself. Despite being completely the wrong breed for us, we found he fit perfectly into our family, and when it came right down to it, we couldn't let him go. With just a couple signatures he went from foster to forever home and I couldn't be happier!
I am so honored to work with such a wonderful group of people dedicated to a cause so dear to me. Now I am proud to be a part of the Furry Bottoms family of adopters!

Katie
I adopted Katie in December 2009. She is a rat terrier, and is on your Happy Tails Adopted list.
I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely adore Katie, and can't imagine not having her in my life. She has turned out to be everything and more than what you had in your description of her. I retired from my full time job in May, and we are now inseparable.
I took Katie to the vet when I first got her, and then took her back in April for her heartworm, etc. The vet could not believe how much she had flourished. He was so happy I had taken a chance on getting another dog. I had to have my Sheltie put to sleep just a few months before adopting Katie.
She is a perfectly behaved dog, and I have not heard her bark in all the months I've had her, which amazes all my friends. She loves our walks. We usually do at least 3 a day, which has kept her weight down to 13.5 pounds. She doesn't like to play with toys, but loves to chew on rawhides.
I have a place in northern WI, and she is perfect in the car for the 4 hour drive. Of course, she loves all the sights and smells the north woods have to offer.
The first picture I'm sending is Katie on the couch. That's one of her most favorite places to sleep. The 2nd picture that I've attached was taken up north. Her and my grand daughter were sitting on a huge mound of snow. Katie absolutely loves my grandchildren, and of course, they also love her. Unfortunately, it's difficult to get real good pictures of Katie. Even though she's perfect in every other way, she doesn't like to pose for pictures.
I want to thank all of you for the wonderful job you do. It has to be very rewarding to place the dogs in their forever homes.

Cherokee (formerly Jake)
My husband and I had been looking for another dog for a while as we have a Siberian Husky who was needing a playmate.
We found Furry Bottom and saw a picture of a yellow lab named Jake (now Cherokee). We completely fell in love with his picture and knew we had to bring him home
We got him in January of 2007. We knew he would be a big dog when I went to pick him up at the foster home and could barely lift him. At 6 weeks old he was a ball of muscle.
He weighs 135 lbs and he stands at my hip (I'm 5'3). He is a gentle giant. We have 2 daughters, 3 yrs old and 9 months old, he baby sits when I am out of the room and he is so gentle with them. My 3 year old and Cherokee chase each other around the backyard. He lets the 9 month old snuggle with him. He just wants to please everyone and loves his family. His bark is loud and he usually scares people when they see him. He protects the girls and I when my husband isn't home.
All around we are so lucky to have him in our family.
Thanks Furry Bottoms for letting this wonderful dog into our lives. He is a blessing to us.
|
Deidra
We adopted Deidra in May 2010 after deciding that we had plenty of space in our new house to add a friend for our 8 year old dog, Donkey. We were a bit concerned that sharing our attention with another dog would cause jealousy issues with Donkey. Fortunately, this was not the case at all and the two became fast friends. They share toys, will drink out of the same water bowl at the same time, and spend hours each day wrestling and playing out in the yard.
Deidra has learned so much in such a short time despite her stubborn streak. (Well, she is a hound!) She is great with kids, other dogs, and even our cat (although she did try to "tree" poor Kitty for about the first week we had her)! She has been a wonderful addition to the family and has proved to be a great companion to us and her new best friend, Donkey. Thank you Furry Bottoms for helping us find such a sweet, mellow, and wonderful new family member!

Kira
She's just the best - we laugh every day and what a fun loving puppy she is! We're so lucky that the people who adopted her first, brought her back!
She's made huge strides at staying in the house not kenneled - rarely EVER do we find anything wrong when we come home. (as long as we keep everything put away, garbage, dishes, etc)
She LOVES our backyard and will spend all day out there in the yard, watching birds and strolls through the flower garden looking for bunnies. When she finds them it's a sight to behold!
She and Luke play constantly - she's made a huge difference in Luke's life. Niki had been sick for so long, that we didn't really realize Luke "forgot" how to play. They run run run run!

Tinker (formerly Nina)
Hello! I wanted to let you know how our spoiled Tinker is doing. She is the best dog we have ever had. She loves our 2 children, ages 9 and 6, and has such a great temperment with them. She is protective of our home and is so lovable to everyone. Even though she is a lab/dachsund mix, she does not love the water. We have had her for about 2 years now and look forward the many, many more years to come.
(UPDATE) We have had her for about 2 years now and we adore her. We could not have picked a more perfect dog. Our 2 children, ages 9 and 6, absolutely love her. She has such a great personality and temperment. She was incredibly easy to house train and has never chewed up anything she isn't supposed to. We love that she is a labrador/dachsund mix. Everyone is surprised at that, but she is so lovable that everyone loves her no matter where we go. We cannot thank you enough for her.
Thank you again for our wonderful dog! The DeWitt Family |
|
Cabot (formerly Jake)
Here is Cabot. He was adopted in January 2007 and known as "Jake". He was one of a large litter of Lab-Golden mixes........except that he's not :-) We had our suspicions that he might be a different mix when he kept on growing and growing--and avoided water at all costs! We had his DNA checked and he turned out to be a Labrador-Mastiff-Pit bull-Shepherd mix. He is the sweetest dog and smart too: his shoe fetish continues, but at least he fetches them for us now! His only bad habit is that he really likes to "explore", just like his namesake. His only claim to shame was his dog obedience class, where he just decided to do it all his way; far too independent to walk in a circle and "sit" every three paces. Borrrrring............find me a job to do!! Better yet, find me a friend to play with!! (I am happy to report that his manners have improved tremendously since then) He is a great dog and we love him.

Echo
My name is Echo and I have a new family. They drove over 300 miles round trip to get me! I have quickly settled into my new home and love to take naps in the sunny living room. My parents think I am quiet and sweet, but also very inquisitive which they love. When I'm not napping I like to toss around my new toys, go for walks, ride in my dad's truck, and investigate the great outdoors at my new cottage. I am currently mastering walking on a leash. I have quickly gone from circling us all into a tangled mess to a calm, steady, straightforward strut. Although all bets are off when I see a squirrel:) Thanks Furry Bottoms Rescue for finding me such a great home!

Ernie
We adopted Ernie in January, 2010. He has been such a joy to our family and in our lives! We couldn't have asked for a better puppy for ourselves. He loves his squeaker toys and loves going on long walks around the neighborhood. He is great with other dogs and loves to have play dates with them. He loves to cuddle and sleep right next to us! He is a great dog and we would like to thank Furry Bottoms Rescue and the foster family who had Ernie for letting him come into our lives!

Tessla
Here are a few pictures of my rescue Tessla, playing with my grandson. We had Tess before we had Aadin and weren't sure how things would go with the baby but as soon as cheerios came into the picture the two of them are best buddies. Tess has been the most perfect dog, rarely makes a peep and is always happy to just be around us. She doesn't beg at the table or wake us up in the morning to go out, in fact we wake her up to go out. She comes when I call her if she is loose and doesn't complain on a tie out in fact sometimes she wants to go out just to be tied out and to suntan on the deck. She doesn't get the concept of fetch but loves to play catch if you throw the tennis ball she catches it mid air and wants another one. In the winter she catches ice cubes. She is by far the sweetest most gentle dog I have ever seen in my life. We, including Aadin love her so much. Thank you for finding her and letting us adopt her.
|
|
Kia
We adopted Kia in August of 2009 and our lives have been filled with such happiness since then! She is now about 4 years old and shockingly is still in the puppy stage, which we really do enjoy. Kia acts like a big baby and loves to cuddle with anyone that is willing to share a blanket with her. Her favorite toy is a large stick that we picked up down at the beach, and her rope toy too. She loves going for long walks, and enjoys running with us too. We really enjoy coming her to her welcoming barks and kisses. She really enjoys playing in the snow and running at the dog park. We have found that she does not like water and wont go swimming down at the lake. She is a great addition to our family and will never regret our decision to adopt her, she is so happy now!
Scott and Nicole
|
Mira
My puppy is a special needs puppy. Her name is Mira, because she is a miracle. Mira will be 4 months old. She is very smart and is already doing sit, down, and she can stay and I can walk 20 feet away from her. Because she is fragile, she will take an obedience class when she is older, and I will like her to get her canine good citizen certification. Our grandchildren love Mira. We have 2 other dogs from recues. Mira loves to be outside and she stays by me while I garden.

|
Shay
As you can see, Shay is an amazingly beautiful blue Weimaraner. Almost four years ago, however, she was in a desperate situation. At 36 pounds (Half of her weight), she and a Brittany were dumped off at a dog park in Racine. Starved, hairless, and near death, these two canine skeletons were saved by a kind, dog loving woman. How grateful my husband and I are to her.
We fostered Shay and obviously failed! Having had Weimaraners for 16 years, Shay fit into our pack and has never left. I consider Weims my breed and Shay is our "Queen." Shay is the reason I volunteer for Furry Bottoms Rescue. She is the success story that everyone needs to know about because she was able to overcome so many obstacles. Shay is proof that inside of those dogs some may deem as hopeless, that there is indeed hope and most times, a love and loyalty so fierce that it should be considered a gift as valuable as gold. It just takes the right person(s) to find it!
Bernadette & Mark Stahlkopf
|
Redford (formerly Red)
Okay...so we failed AGAIN! Redford came to us to last October. Because of our sporting dog household - two Weimaraners and a Vizsla, we were given the English Setter as a foster. At six months, Redford (Formally just 'Red') was the calmest dog in our household and it was soon apparent that both Mark and I had fallen in love with him. He was, after all, a fantastic playmate for our young Vizsla, Horatio.
We never discussed adopting him. It was the "unspoken" that was so powerful. We both loved his sweet and quiet disposition. We loved that he and "H" were such good friends. We loved how he would roll on his side and lift his back leg for us to rub his belly - we now affectionately call that "Open for business." He opened his heart to us and we now closed the deal - we officially adopted him.
Four dogs...Four large, sporting dogs...Are we crazy? No, we are not because each one of them fills up our hearts and completes our family. Do we still foster? Yes, and it is because we cherish our dogs so much that we want others to experience the immense love and compassion we can share with animals!
Again, Bernadette & Mark Stahlkopf |
|
Abby (formerly Willa)
We adopted Abby, February 9th, 2010, after she had 4 puppies that were weaned from her. Abby is 1-1/2 years old and is the happiest dog. Her tail wags all the time. She loves to take all the toys and put them on the couch and toss them off the couch and pounce on them. Who would ever think a 13 pound dog could make so much noise! She is so much fun and crazy at times, and always makes us laugh and smile. Abby gets along well with our other dog Cuddles. They are so cute when they are in the car together and have to sit next to each other to look out the window. Our family loves her very much! She just fit in so well with our family. Thank you Donna (her foster Mom) for taking good care of her!

Roxie, Jackson, Fergie, Mina and Porkchop
Thank you to Furry Bottoms and all animal rescues out there helping find good homes for wonderful homeless animals. We are a family of seven, two humans, four dogs and one horse. All of our animal companions have come from various rescues and shelters across the Midwest and all of our dogs were saved by these rescues from certain euthanasia. What a tragedy that would have been as our fur-kids make our lives complete. They are the most devoted companions and make me smile with wonder every day when I look at them. I think about how lucky we all are to have found each other. Our Roxie was dumped off at a shelter with 9 puppies after being tied to a tree in a yard long enough that all of the fur around her neck was rubbed off. A shelter employee saw how sweet she was and called a local rescue. Roxie and her puppies were saved by this rescue worker only minutes before their scheduled deaths. Roxie is the most wonderful lady and I have at least ten people who have offered to take her should anything ever happen to us. Jack came from a similar situation and he is the most beautiful and kind soul, his brown eyes will melt your heart. Mina and Fergie were twins that came from a large litter, we fell in love with Mina when we found her on petfinder.com and when we went to see her, we had to have her beautiful sister as well. We could not have asked for more lively, comical love sponges than these two girls and they were such a wonderful addition to our family. My gorgeous horse Porkchop was saved from an unknown fate on the auction block. He is the light of my life and an amazing companion who will be with me until the day he crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Anyone who sees our 'herd' falls in love and is amazed at how well they all get along. (Porkchop is the only one who doesn't live in the house of course!) There is never a dull moment in our house and we wouldn't have it any other way. I will always support animal shelters and rescues and would never think of 'buying' an animal from a breeder or pet store. I wish that everyone would choose to adopt so we can end this terrible cycle of homeless pets. Rescue animals know that you have chosen to save them and they never forget it. There is such a special bond with these animals that cannot be described, they thank you every day of their lives that you chose them.
Please support your local and national rescues!!!
Sincerely, Summer, TJ, Roxie, Jackson, Fergie, Mina and Porkchop |

Jesse
Jesse became a part of our family on February 13,2010. Every day is an adventure with him!
He is very energetic, curious and sweet. Our daughter Jessie has a lot of fun with him. Jesse has been warmly embraced by our family and friends. He is growing more comfortable with visits and is getting to know everyone.
Jesse is growing by leaps and bounds! We became much more aware of this as we reviewed photos of him since February. He is quite tall. He howls quite a bit. A friend has remarked that Jesse looks like a big Snoopy! He is very good natured and has grown very attached to Jessie. We think that he sometimes thinks SHE is HIS pet! :)
Jesse has been quite busy since he joined our family. He rides to school to pick Jessie up at 3:20 p.m. He has discovered a neighborhood dog park, attended obedience school, had a few sleepovers at Grandma's,and has exercised in Aunt Laurie's spacious backyard. He has visited Tomah and Sturgeon Bay. His summer plans include puppy education and visits to EAA in Oshkosh and Washington Island in Door County.
Life with Jesse has been delightful. On a certain level, the house we have lived in since 2007 now feels more like a home.

Primo (formerly Preacher)
We adopted Primo (who we now call Primo because people kept thinking his name was Creature) in August of '08. He was 4 months old and was a fluffy fun puppy. Love at first sight for the whole family! Now a year and a half later, he is 50 pounds and very long and hairy. He is Lonzo's brother on the website although they have opposite coloring. He is so cute and has this great head tilt that gets him out of trouble. He loves other dogs and gets along well with our three sons (19, 16 and 10). The only thing he is afraid of is wind; otherwise he is fearless. Primo loves to chase the boys and other dogs at the dog park, play hide and seek (although he is always the seeker), runs a few miles every day with me and keeps me company while I work but loves it when the boys come home from school. He has been a great addition to the family. Thanks to Furry Bottoms for all the great care they gave him in his early months.

Titan
Titan (lighter color) was one of 10 pups when we saw hin on your web-site. He was just 9 weeks and had never been outside when we adopted him in Feb. 2007. He has become a sweet part of our family and gets along great with his "big sister" Saga (brindle).

Duncan (formerly Reno)
We might be bias parents, but Duncan is the smartest dog we've ever met. The day we picked him up, I was sitting at the table signing the paperwork, he ran over, sat down and put his front paws in my lap. It was so adorable. Training him was so easy and he listens to both of us so well. We've gotten so many compliments on his looks and mannerism since the day we got him. Many people have asked if he had any siblings left, but he was the last one of his litter. He's also super handsome and is so good with the other kids in the house, 3 12-year-old cats. We can take him anywhere and he's always the life of the party.
Rescues give so much unconditional love. We have 4 and we wouldn't change it for anything in the world!

I adopted Sophie, who is a chihuahua/poodle mix age somewhere between 2-3 years old over 7 weeks ago and she is a perfect match. We bonded right away and I can't imagine a day without her. She even gets along with her sister, my 10-year old cat, Ashley. They both sleep together in bed with me. Sophie sleeps all night with me and lets me know she has to go out in the morning by kissing my face. Sophie loves her daily walks and really enjoys walking around the neighborhood. Since, taking her to bed with me, she barks less and is very happy. Sophie loves sitting in the recliner with me, especially if I put a blanket around her. Sophie came housebroken and hardly any accidents. For anyone considering adopting a rescue dog, it is definitely worth it. The dogs may have had a rough experience in the past, but the dog will love you and appreciate you even more and make you very happy. There are lots of good dogs that need good homes. I am a lot happier now that I have Sophie to come home to. My cat, Ashley is less lonely and seems happier too. Furry Bottoms is a great place to adopt a dog from because they take the time to make the best match for dog and owner. Good luck finding your dog.

Lily
I am just writing you to let you know that we have had Lily for 1 year now and she is doing wonderful and very adjusted. She is actually a trained Pet Therapy Dog and works in hospitals and nursing homes. I can never ever thank you enough for giving my family the chance to give Lily a home. I think she likes it here too.

Crosby (formerly Jade)
We adopted Crosby about 3 years ago.he was about 12 weeks old. Since then he has grown to a whopping 115 pounds and is the biggest baby you have ever seen.He fit in perfectly with the two of us and our old lab Jake.He likes to swim and run in the woods. He sits on the floor and snuggles with the two of us and of course he snores all night loud enough to wake the two of us up.He is such a great dog we couldn't ask for anything more from our dog. Thank you very much he has found a life long home.

Daphne
Our family would not be complete without Daphne...we adopted her about 3 years ago and she is the best dog in the world. We couldn't of asked for a more loving and wonderful dog...she is truly a blessing!! When we saw her on Furry Bottoms Rescue we knew she was the dog for us, we sent the papers in and when we got the phone call we were so happy. They told us 4 other adoption papers came in and ours was first in line, thank goodness for that because we don't know what we would do without her. We will definitely adopt from Furry Bottoms Rescue again....thank you so much for giving us the most precious dog.

Ivan
We adopted Ivan 1 1/2 years ago. He was approximately 1 1/2 years old. He was an instant part of our family. We have 3 children, ages 5, 10, 12 and he loves them. He has so much character and personality. He is also very entertaining. We also adopted a puppy when Ivan arrived and they have bonded fantastically.
We could have never dreamed Ivan would be such a great dog, but everything in your adoption description was very accurate.
Everyone loves Ivan and anyone who meets him to include other dogs and cats love him. He is just the greatest addition to our family.
Thanks so much! James and Lisa LeBouef |

Annie
So far everything has been great with Annie at our home! We've been pleasantly surprised with how smooth the transition has been. I think she's very comfortable and happy with us. I've attached a few pictures of her in her 2 favorite places. She seems to like the bed I've made for her in the corner of our living room. She also loves lying in the kitchen by the patio door! Especially when the sun is shining in.
She doesn't make a peep during the night. Just sleeps in her bed. We take her for 2 short walks a day - just down the block a little and back, in the morning and in the evening. Chayton likes to tell her what a good job she's doing when she goes potty. :) And we also let her out on a long rope/leash thing in the backyard several times a day. She's very good with Chayton - gives him a lot of kisses and takes treats very gently from him. Overall - she is a wonderful and loving dog! We have no complaints.

Ruby (Formerly Seven)
A year ago we were so lucky to be able to adopt a handsome puppy named Bugs from Furry Bottoms and he was such an exceptional dog, we decided we had room in our home to adopt another. We again searched the Furry Bottoms website only this time we were looking for a dog beyond the puppy stages, one a little more mature yet good company for Bugs. And we found Ruby (formerly Seven)! Ruby is a beautiful little yellow lab mix. Even though she is approximately 2 years old, people often mistake her for a puppy because she is so petite! All we know about Rub's past is that she was picked up as a stray and was slated to be sold to an animal research lab until Furry Bottoms saved the day! Ruby rode the ferry across Lake Michigan to Milwaukee and was placed with her foster mom, Dee, until we found her.
Ruby is extraordinarily smart and there is an intensity about her that took me some time to understand. When she first arrived in our home, there were certain behaviors about her that I couldn't quite figure out and I often found myself wishing she could talk and tell me about her previous life. Although I'll never know the answers to those mysteries, I have come to understand that what makes Ruby tick is love. She is almost obsessive about it. Once she decided it was safe to love and trust us, she has made it her life mission to make sure she never loses us. She has become a second mother to my children, makes sure our other pets are safe and behaving, worships my husband and is my constant companion - Velcroed to my side whenever possible. During the night it is not uncommon for Ruby to make the rounds, going from room to room to make sure everyone is sleeping safely. Her capacity to love sometimes boggles my mind!
Recently Ruby was voted the Most Improved in her dog training class and she will begin working on her Canine Good Citizen certificate this summer. She works so hard to please us. I have never met a dog quite like her. Although we have now had her only six months, it has been one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences of my life watching this relationship between Ruby and my family bloom. She is truly a gift from heaven and we are so grateful to Lisa Young, foster mom Dee, and Furry Bottoms for helping us find her!!

Bugs
Every day my 9 year old daughter would get on the computer and search through Petfinder.com, looking for the perfect puppy to adopt. Hannah was determined. One day she came across Furry Bottoms and there she found a new litter of puppies looking for homes. We contacted Renae Harris, the foster mom in charge, made the trip to Adell and fell in love at first site with Bugs. That was a year ago and he is still as sweet as ever! Bugs is our "dream dog" - everything we could ever wish for in a dog and then some. He is so very gentle and sensitive yet he loves to play and have a good time. We can take him anywhere - camping, dance lessons, the beach, the nursing home - he just goes with the flow. Everyone knows and loves Bugs! We are so grateful to Furry Bottoms and especially Renae Harris for taking such good care of Bugs until we could find him. We love him so much! Nothing beats coming home from work to Bugs and his toothy smile! He makes every day special!
Thanks again! The Levy Family |

Moose
Meet Moose. He's three years old. I can hardly believe we've had him this long. It seems yesterday we were meeting him at his foster family's house. Had they named him well, he was all long legs going every which way. When he sat down in my oldest daughter's lap I knew he was home. Moose keeps an eye on his people and is the only "child" I know won't be leaving home. Whether he's beside my chair or snuggling with Mike he keeps track of his family. He's recently earned his CGC certification. Thank you FBR for caring for Moose till we could find him!

PJ
No words can describe the love and joy our little PJ has brought to our lives. PJ has filled a void our family felt after losing our Golden Retriever named Micky. PJ defines unconditional love. He has been there for our family during tough times and great times. Sometimes he seems to be the only constant in our lives. His requests are few; scratch his belly, a daily walk through the park, playing with him, and of course allowing him time to cuddle. We are so thankful we found out about Furry Bottoms. If you are looking for a wonderful pet and companion, we highly recommend Fury Bottoms

Scooby (formerly Doc)
We adopted Scooby (formerly Doc) on February 20, 2010 when he was just over 12 weeks old. He seems to really be enjoying his new home just about as much as we are enjoying him. He likes to take all of his toys out of the the basket and put them all over the living room floor, but when he gets really excited he runs back and forth in the living and now that he can do the stairs he can't seem to stop running up and down...even when our backs are turned. He is so much fun and a little crazy at times, but it all brings a smile to our face. We especially like how much he's like a little baby and likes to crawl up on his mommy and daddy's laps to take a nap, it's the cutest thing ever. We'd really like to thank Furry Bottoms Rescue for allowing us to bring Scooby into our home, he's a perfect addition and we couldn't be happier.
Update: He has grown so much, but is still the cutest puppy on the block. He is such a mama's boy, but a very good one. He's learning quickly and has already learning to sit, stay, and come. We are still working on potty training although he is not messing in the house and sometimes go to the door when he needs to go out. We are so happy and he think he is as well because he tail never stops wagging!
Thank you! Pat and Holly |

Robert
We met Robert for the first time on Valentine's Day 2009. He was going to solve our problem and we were going to solve his. Less than a month earlier, our 11 year German Shepherd Gauss died leaving our younger shepherd Marla with a severe case of separation anxiety. We tried many things, house sitters, working at home, aromatherapy, pheromone collars, anti-depressants, etc. At the same time though, we started searching Petfinder. Gauss left a huge hole in our home, not just for Marla, but for us. So, we searched for adult male shepherds.
Robert was over a hundred miles away and he'd been in foster care for quite some time. Everyone at Furry Bottoms who knew Robert was very helpful and told us everything about Robert's character, personality and history. This was reassuring, as we were looking for a harmonious smooth transition. So, one week later Robert joins our family and Marla's separation anxiety disappears over night.
When Robert arrived he was actively involved in a weight-loss program. He had 30 more pounds to lose and he accomplished this in about 6 months. It's very inspirational watching him become more and more athletic and confident every day. He chases rabbits and squirrels with Marla and goes on 4-5 mile walks daily. Although he managed to avoid doing stairs for the first three months, he now does them 3 at a time. He jumps through 18 inches of snow like a dolphin crashing through waves.
What a great splendid dog. He's a constant companion, a watchful eye, a shadow. The only thing we regret is that we were not around for the first part of his life. Thank you Furry Bottoms for all the great work you do, the wonderful animals you care for, and for bringing Robert into our lives.

Rufus (formerly Petey)
Here are a few pictures of "Petey" and his new family. I should tell you that we changed his name to Rufus. Hi full name is Rufus T. Wagstaff. :>) He is a wonderful dog. We just love him! He's doing very well and is very happy and healthy and loves his new family, friends, and home. The water pictures here are of him and his first trip into Lake Michigan up in Door Cty. It took a couple times, but he took to the water very well - so cute!!

Kloey (formerly Suri)
Here are a few pictures of Kloey Olson (her Furry Bottom name was Suri). I (our family) adopted her on 6/17/09. She has been a tremendous joy in our lives, and I thank Furry Bottom for its mission and efforts so that I and my family were able to receive Kloey in our lives.
Kloey is a well socialized dog that loves people, children, and other dogs. She is the first to greet anyone at the door with a wagging tail and kisses. She love to chase things, especially squirrels, and has developed quite an ability to catch frisbees, although it's been a little too hard in the snow lately. She loves the water hose in the summer while I water the vegetables, and she can't get enough of the tennis ball.
We are grateful everyday that we have Kloey in our lives. I personally appreciate the application process and personal review Furry Bottom conducts before placement. I jokingly say once in a while that Kloey hit the "lottery" with our family, but in my heart, I know that her litter mates are likely equally as content and happy because of the efforts of Furry Bottom.

Emmitt (formerly Sheldon)
Thank-you to Furry Bottoms Rescue and our wonderful foster family for our new puppy Emmitt. (former Sheldon) We adopted him on 1-9-10. He has been the highlight of our house. As you can see Emmitt has made himself feel right at home! This little guy has brought so much laughter into our family. He always has a puppy hug ready for us!

Lonzo (formerly Alonzo)
We adopted Alonzo (who we now call Lonzo because it flowed better off our younger son's tongue) in August of '08. He was only a couple of months old and the smallest fur ball (he slept under the coffee table). Now a year and a half later, he is the longest, fluffiest dog you can imagine. He is just a great dog and gets along well with our older dog and our two sons (10 and 7). In fact, when he is scared (like of the vacuum) he hides behind his adopted big brother who is only about half his size, it's priceless. Lonzo loves running and laying in the snow and chasing tennis balls with the kids. He has been a great addition to the family and we never would have found him without Furry Bottoms Rescue. Thanks to Lisa and all her foster parents for making it possible.

Presley (formerly Macy)
We adopted Presley (former name Macy) in October of 2008. We had been looking to adopt a puppy and fell in love with Presley's photo on line. Furry Bottoms was a wonderful organization to work with. You could tell instantly that they cared about their dogs and the families that adopted them. Presley's foster mom Janie was incredibly helpful and you could tell she loved and took care of her foster kids with pride. Presley will be 2 years old in July 2010 and we marvel all of the time how lucky we are to have found her. She has the sweetest personality and is a big snuggler. She makes us laugh almost every day with one thing or another. I am not surprised at how smart she has become and how easy she was to train.
Thank you again Furry Bottoms for bringing our dog into our lives! Michelle Billmann |
|
Willow
Willow has adjusted great. She is a wonderful dog. We are all enjoying her company, what a snuggler. She makes us laugh. We can't thank you enough for letting us meet her that monday afternoon.
We are truely greatful Thomas, Jenny, Anna, and Abby (Willow's family) |
|
Cady (formerly Cara)
We are a very lucky and happy family, now thanks to Cady! We adopted Cara, a Coon hound mix, and have since changed her name to Cady. She is a Wonderful dog, everyone who sees her asks to take her home for a sleep over! she has made friends with all the neighbor dogs, and they love her just about as much as we do! She's calm, sweet, and she is the best snuggler! we curl up on the couch and call it a night. Since we brought her home, we have not needed to set our alarm either. =] We are soo so soo fortunate to have such a wonderful dog, she has made our house a home, and continues to put a smile on my face. Thank you to everyone who has made our adoption possible!
As Always, Michelle, Jason, Cady |

Zuzoo
I have been a pet owner most of my life and had always wanted my boys (ages 7&9) to experience the special relationship that a dog can bring to a family. I had been looking on petfinder for some time. My husband and I have discussed "when the time is right" concerning when to consider adding a family member. I had an idea in mind of what I was looking for in a dog. I looked at petfinder one morning and saw Zuzoo's picture and story. She sounded perfect. I filled out the adoption paperwork and contacted her fosters. We set up a meeting with my children. I told my husband we were just going to meet her and see what happens. I assured him I would not jump into anything that didn't feel right. Our first meeting went so well that we had a hard time leaving her behind. My kids were so excited and had made up their minds right away (and so did I by the way) but we still had to have Zuzoo meet Dad.
Needless to say, Dad fell for her right away too and we made the decision to adopt her. It has been 3 months now and we can honestly say that it definately was "the right time and the right dog". Zuzoo is as much a part of our family as if we had her all along. As you can see by the pictures, she is happy in her new home and very much loved by everyone. She loves to go for long walks, play ball in the yard, and play with her toys (and boys) in the house. She walks to school with us every morning. It is really amazing that so many of the school kids know her by name and greet her when we walk. My boys have fallen hard for her and truly have discovered that special bond. The day we brought her home, my youngest son decided she needed a slight name change. He suggested Zuzoo Awesome Raeder! And so it is.

Houdy (**updated**)
Mid December I stopped into a local shelter and some yellow labs caught my eye, when I inquired about them, they had already had applications on them. I went home that day and went on line, I was searching Labs and came across Houdy...he is a Plott hound/Lab mix. I saw his face and connected. I saw many dogs on line that day, but somehow for me this one was different, we had a connection-boy was I right. After visiting him in foster care - we fell in love with him. He is the very BEST dog I have ever had!! Reading about him, I was a bit nervous because it said he needed a lot of physical activity…I work full time, but I am a runner so I thought this would be okay. Turned out he could really take or leave running, he is pretty much a huge loveable couch potato. Houdy is the sweetest, wonderful, mild mannered dog. He has never chewed a thing and great with kids other dogs. I have done a lot of research on Plott Hounds, and they are wonderful family dogs. Although, they are hounds…and if they catch a scent …they run. We are working on that.
This has been a wonderful experience for our family, especially my husband who was/is not the biggest dog lover. We catch him petting Houdy, talking to him and inviting him up on the couch with him. My 2 girls love him, but he is a momma's boy. He sleeps in the bed with my youngest daughter, but when she is not around, he sleeps on his bed in our room. He never leaves my side when I am home. We moved to Texas a few weeks ago and now with a fenced in yard, he is in heaven. He still loves his morning walk with me before work, but loves to play and hunt the squirrels in the tree in the back yard. We have a pool, but he is not real interested in that at all. Most everyone that meets him wants to take him home with them! Thanks Furry Bottoms-this has been a wonderful experience for us!!

Mocha
Thank you from the Wriedt family as well as Mocha. Things are going very well, she is an awesome dog. Very obediant, well behaved, loves to play, and loves to snuggle. We have made a slide show to give you a little look into her life. We hope you enjoy it.
God's Blessings, The Wriedt's |

Hazel
We've had Hazel for six months now and she's been the perfect addition to our family. She loves our daily walks, playing with her toys and snuggling on the couch. I can't imagine finding a better dog! We can't thank Furry Bottoms enough!

Dino
Dino....I almost don't know where to start. Dino is a black lab/mastiff mix that we have now had for 4 yrs and is now 7 yrs old. We took Dino in as a foster when he was confiscated at a drug bust and released from a humane society. They "owners" had badly abused this boy and would withhold food and he was filthy. What they did to this poor boy was atrocious! When he first came to our house he was so afraid of men. He would shake with fear but was so very gentle. Even though he was afraid I knew from the moment I met him that he belonged in our family. It was an instant connection that I cannot explain. I cried for him and he comforrted me
This boy was only 43 lbs when we took him in. He is now 90 lbs. He is my soul mate for a dog. My Dino is so gentle with kids of all ages. He is no longer afraid of any adults and has blossomed. Fostering him and then adopting him was the best thing that happened to us. He sometimes sleeps with our cat and he loves playing with our other dog Nakoose. Dino is a mamma's boy but he still loves everyone. WE passed our obedience classes. Our next goal is getting our CGC. Our Dino has helped little kids get over the fear of dogs. He has layed next to our children while they have read books. I can't say enough about him. I could write a book. He knows commands such as sit, stay, wait, ok, come, down, heel, shake left paw, shake right paw, wave (yes, he actually waves at people when you ask him to) and sit handsome. He aims to please. WE love our Dino very much and are thankful for him every day! He has touched our lives in so many ways.

Rabbit (formerly Ramsay)
Ramsay, who we are now calling Rabbit (our little bunny) quickly fit into the family. Furry Bottoms did a great job of helping us find the perfect dog for our lifestyle. Rabbit is now an accomplished frisbee dog, playing "who can catch the frisbee first" with our other dog Maggie. We have multiple frisbee sessions a day, along with family walks and runs this keeps the puppies busy until our weekend fun when we take them cross-country skiing and hiking. We recently taught the dogs how to skijor, where they assist us by running ahead hooked to a harness that is attached to our waists. We are now much faster skiiers! Rabbit is an adorable addition to our home, he helps to keep us, Maggie and Doodle the cat entertained. Thank you Furry Bottoms!

|
Kodi (formerly Kodiak)
We adopted Kodi (aka Kodiak) and his sister Skye when they were 8 weeks old. They have changed and changed our lifes. We could not picture our lives without the love they give us everyday. Kodi is shy until he knows people and Skye knows everyone loves her. Your rescue helped our family become complete
Kandi
|
Woodrow
Woodrow has been a wonderful addition to our family! He is very smart, sweet, and friendly. We adopted Woodrow right after we bought a new house in a new neighborhood. Now we are know as "Woodrow's parents." The whole neighborhood loves him! We are so blessed to have such a good dog!
Jacob and Molly DePagter

Vinny
I wanted to send some pictures of Vinny to you with all his friends. My neighbor doggy sits for me while I am at work so he has friends to play with and can be outside (weather permitting) to play in the large gated yard and swim in the pool. The other three dogs belong to my neighbor. They are Toby, the Springer, Nipper, the mountain Curr, and Poppy, the German Short Hair. They are their own pack and just love each other.
I cannot thank you enough for my special friend Vinny. He is the highlight of my day.
Patti Nelson-Gill

Brock
We are all doing well and thankful to be together for Christmas.
We hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!
On the Christmas card is Brock, he is 3 years old and finally had enough courage to see Santa!
Merry Christmas from John, Linda, Pam, and Brock
|
Sadie
Sadie, our adopted Chocolate Lab, came to us over two years ago. She had been abused and had a fear of everybody. Her self esteem was very low. She needed love.
After a short time she came out of her shell and now loves people. Even with groups of strangers she does well and usually displays her good manners. She has become the perfect family dog - well almost. She still doesn't like the UPS guy very much.
Furry Bottoms helped bring a new joy to us. Sadie has a forever home. We strive to make the second half of her life better than the first.
Pat and Rick Young (and Sadie)
|
Connor
Connor is such a good dog (except for the time when he ate a rock …) and he's a great addition to the family. We love having him!
Heidi
|
Molly
I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how Molly is doing. Boy did you ever do a great job describing her. She is so sweet and sure loves to be touched. We're working on our walking skills (she's so strong for such a little thing!). :o) She gets along great with the cat who loves to play peek-a-boo with her from behind the furniture - Molly plays right along. She did well her first day with me back at work. When I came home at lunch, the only thing awry was her dog food was scattered all over the kitchen floor. She seems to want to "mix" her food first with her nose before digging in - it's so funny!

Mack
After losing our very special dog Molly to cancer , we were devastated. A few months later, we realized we weren't quite ready to adopt, but decided to become foster parents for the rescue. One of our first foster dogs was Mack. He was very close to being euthanized in an overcrowded shelter but the rescue was able to take him in. The moment we met Mack we knew he was special. I remember him laying his head on my shoulder as I was getting ready to give him a bath. He only wanted unconditional love & we knew then, he was meant for our family. We adopted him & the rest is history. After two years, he is doing well & considers himself a person just like us! He loves going for walks & laying in bed with us. He has also been so helpful with the foster dogs who've been with us. He's patient, gentle, & has been a great example to the dogs who've since moved on to their forever home. We love him so much. To Lisa & all the other volunteers, thank you for all you do to save dogs just like Mack! Our lives wouldn't be the same without him!

Rosa
I wanted you to see how much we LOVE our Rosa. Chief and her are doing great, as well as with the kids. We can't wait until she is off restrictions but that will be a while. We go back to the vet again on Monday. Everyone that meets her just loves her. I am so glad we found each other, thanks to you and Furry Bottoms. And thank you for all you have done for her and all the dogs. You are all wonderful people who do wonderful things.

Ella
I had never had a dog over 25 pounds before but I saw Ella's page on petfinder.com (she is a 60 pound yellow lab mix) at Furry Bottoms Rescue and her bio really touched me. She has physical scars from previous abuse as well as the emotional baggage that comes with that. Unbelievably, it did not take long before she started to blossom. She has been in our family for a year and a half and continues to charm us with her antics as she comes out of her shell. I especially love it when she does her "happy dance" prancing back and forth on her front paws when she gets really excited.
I had continued checking out petfinder.com to see that other dogs I had been interested in were finding their forever homes. Again Furry Bottoms had a face I fell in love with. Scruffy is a 13-pound chocolate brown (once his hair grew back!) poodle unsure what else-maybe yorkie mix and he is a happy little man. My husband calls him Buckshot. If he thinks a treat may be involved, he is dancing on his hind legs with his front paws going like crazy. It has been almost a year since Scruffy came into our home, but immediately it felt like our family was whole.
Ella and Scruffy get along like they have always lived together...I like to say they crack us up every day!
We were so happy with how everything worked out that we now volunteer as part of the Furry Bottoms family!
Thank you Furry Bottoms from the Thiry's, Ella, Scruffy, Carl and Vicki |
|
Deeva
Deeva is doing fantastic, she hasn't had any accidents in the house and she didn't even cry when we put her in her crate last night. Thanks again she is wonderful!

Sam
Our kids found Sam on the Furry Bottoms website during the summer of 2009 and fell in love with him. He joined our family in August. Since celebrating his first birthday in our home, he has continued to grow and now weighs in the mid-70's. Sam loves going for his daily walks, frolicking in the snow, and hanging out with our family. He is a smart dog, and selectively decides when he wants to listen and obey, or act like he has no idea what it is he has been asked to do! Our family has slipped easily into being dog owners and Sam has certainly become a good addition to our home.

Blitz (formerly Fiddler)
I call Blitz (formerly Fiddler) the pup that almost wasn't. His mom was a pregnant 3 year old destined to be put to sleep at a shelter before Furry Bottoms rescued her. She was fostered at Hairy Dog Diggs along with her 2 new pups and all were adopted within a few days of each other.
Blitz, the pup we adopted, is one big bundle of kisses, cuddles and curls! He has springs for legs and bounces like Tigger, he loves to play fetch and when he's tired, he burrows way under a blanket and takes a nap. He brought an extra year of life to our 13 year old pug, engaging him in playtime or curling up on the couch by him. Buster passed away in August and when we miss him we have Blitz to hold. We'll be forever grateful to Furry Bottoms for taking a chance on rescuing Blitz's mom, as we now have one very special family member who's stolen our heart!

Charlie
Here are a few quick pictures. Charlie is doing great, he loves coming to work with me, He gets plenty of attention from the residents and enjoys laying in front of the fire. He sits right away for them and lets them shake his paw. Everyone loves him! Dee did a wonderful job raising this little one.

Here are a few pictures of Cherie playing out in the snow during our last big snow fall. She is really doing well. She like to fetch the Frisbee with Scooter. She has her own Frisbee and Scooter has his. One picture is of her bring the Frisbee back and the other is of her following Scooter back for a another go at it.

Ross
Ross is doing fine. He's adjusting well. The whole ride home he had his head on Tabitha's lap. What a mamma's boy! As soon as she comes home, he runs around jumping to greet her. He's so well behaved. We used the crate twice, and now its folded up in the basement. When were gone, he lays on our bed. He Has free run of the house, but stays in our bedroom. At night he sprawls out on a quilt on his dog bed. Devon , our son loves him. Ross is so good with him too! Devon can practically lay on top of him and he doesn't flinch! We are very lucky to find such a wonderful dog. Thank you for helping us find him! Also keep my hats off to you for fostering these wonderful dogs. All they need is a little time, and some love. He's our baby and we love him!

Addy (formerly Addison)
Addy (Addison) is just a delight- we call her our gentle giant. She has brought much joy and mischief into the house and we wouldn't want to have it any other way!

Georgia
I adopted Georgia (A.K.A. Georgia Brown, due to her coloring:) ) almost 2 years ago and I can't explain how she has completely transformed my life. I come from a family that insists on rescuing dogs, because there are so many out there that need forever homes! When I brought Georgia to meet her cousins (my mom's 2 dogs), they became instant friends. She has easily become the best decision I have ever made and I now know what it means to be a mother, because I worry about her non-stop! When I first went to visit Georgia, her foster mommy told me that she had her own, cute personality and she was right! She is so fiesty, energetic, playful and stubborn wrapped into one and I LOVE it! There is never a dull moment with her and my life would not be the same without her! She is my little girl and I love her so much!

Bela (formerly Nixie)
After having to put our dog down in September, we set out looking for another dog. We found your website after looking in Petfinders and in late October we adopted one of Rosa's puppies, her name was Nixie but we changed it to Bela. She is an absolute joy. I have to first say that your organization is very professional and does an outstanding job with your dogs. The foster mom of all the puppies did a great job in socializing them and getting them ready for their forever homes. Bela is a great puppy, she seems to be a very happy and smart dog. She doesn't bark much, so we trained her in 2 days to ring a bell to go outside. She is housebroken and has already learned a few commands. She absolutely loves water...I swear she enjoys fresh water to drink even more than food and has already jumped in the shower while it was on and sat underneath the water. We can't wait until it gets warm and then we can take her out to a lake to go swimming.

Naia (formerly Annabelle)
When I adopted Naia (she was Annabelle at the time and it was September 09') I wasn't sure how things would go, as I had never adopted before. It was a perfect match and I am certain that the stars were aligned for this pairing! In fact, Naia and I are cuddling on the couch watching the Food Network as I type this right now :o) She was initially a little shy and reserved, but it is VERY obvious that she is comfortable where she is now! She has graduated from Beginner's Obedience class and we start Intermediate in two weeks - she is extremely smart. Naia goes to daycare 1-2 times per week and has made a lot of friends there, and our neighbor Emily (a yellow Lab) and our friend Sawyer (a Golden Retriever) go there also. Our friend Angie has two German Shepherds (Nakita and Harley) and we walk/play together a lot as well. She has a great circle of friends :o) I get picked on a little bit for pampering my "Princess", as I like to call her, but she deserves it and I can not imagine not having her as part of my life! She loves to walk or jog with me on the trails, but she also loves to just chill out and watch TV. I have been truly blessed in finding her and I thank you (with all of the gratitude I can muster) for helping me to find my perfect baby girl!!!
Just wanted to send a quick update...I have two beautiful, amazing girls that I adopted from Furry Bottoms and I could not be happier (nor could they I hope!!) I adopted Naia (aka Annabelle) in September 2009 and more recently Phoebe in May 2011. They are both amazing and love each other so much - I am blessed to have them as part of my life!!!

Bailey
Here is our family Christmas photo. Bailey is doing great. She loves all of the snow. I bought her a little coat for when the temperatures are really low...she looks so cute in it...but I must admit it makes her look

Scruffy (formerly Azkedelia)
We adopted Scruffy (aka Azkedelia) from Furry Bottoms after fostering her for a short time. I wasn't looking to adopt a dog, but after a couple of days I just fell in love. She may not be the best looking dog, but what she lacks in looks she makes up for in personality. She is by far the sweetest, most cuddly canine companion I've had so far. She really completes my "furry family."

Jaz
We adopted Jaz as a puppy almost three years ago. In fact, she just celebrated her 3rd birthday with us. She, along with our Jack Russell Terrier, pretty much rule the house. I have loved all of the dogs that have been a part of our life, but Jaz has stolen a piece of my heart that will always belong to her!

Lenza
Hi, I'm Cindy and I'm a foster mom for furry bottoms rescue, I also am quilty of flunking fostering 101. This is our precious girl Lenza Lewske. The minute I saw her , I new this was "our" dog. Lenza is an Akbash, not usally a companion dog. But Lenza our big polar bear is a sweetheart. She not only has to live w/the other dogs and fosters hat come and go, but Lenza also lives with 4 developmentally challenged adults. She will go and sit quietly by each one for her daily dose of pets. Not a day goes by, that we don't think how lucky we are to have her. Her gentle, quiet presents is amazing. Have there been other we wanted to keep and not let go, absolutely. But each dog deserves their own family to love and so that as hard as that is sometimes, My fosters all deserve it . You should try it sometime. All you need is love.

Otis
I don't even know how to explain Otis coming into our lives except that he was meant to be our dog. Sometime after our American Bulldog's sister had to be put to sleep we began entertaining the idea of getting another dog with our youngest daughter in mind. We decided on a rescue dog.
We looked at 100's and 100's of dogs on line and in shelters. Otis' picture was up, but his profile wasn't. Still something made us come back to his little face over and over again. We set up a time to see him along with some adorable little puppies as well.
With family and our dog Piper in tow, we went to visit. Even though the tiny puppies were precious, everyone was in agreement when our daughter chose Otis.
Since day one it has felt as if he has always lived with us. He has become not only my shadow but our dog Piper's too. They love to be together chasing rabbits or just snuggling together as you see in the first picture. Dogs have never been allowed on furniture at our house....that is until Otis came along!! He is a very sweet, patient and gentle dog. He even allows our daughter to turn him into a bride!! We can't imagine everything we would have missed without adopting him!
Barb
|
Banjo (formerly Jimmy)
We recently moved to a new home in depere and are fortunate enough that the 1.6 acre lot has a doggie fence. (jimmy/banjo proves to be quite a runner!!) he is happy and loved greatly in our busy household. All the neighbor kids shower him daily with affection as well as 'his boys' milo and leo. Banjo has made our family whole! I cannot believe it has almost been a year since his arrival. It seems as if he has always been with us! We appreciate Furry Bottoms Rescue for their devout care & concern for these abandoned animals, in addition to their thorough adoption process.

Zeena
Our family adopted Zenna in May of 2009. We had just lost our 12 year old Yellow Lab and were looking to add a dog to our family. We started out looking for a smaller dog but there was something about Zenna's picture that caught our eye.
Zenna was born in foster care, adopted, only to be returned. Zenna's foster mom, Linda did a wonderful job working with her. Zenna had some issues, mainly a fear of anything that moved or made noise. Zenna was reluctant at first when she met our family, but you could tell she liked our other dogs and really wanted to trust us. A week later Zenna was at our house. It took Zenna sometime to get used to us and learn our routine as well for us to learn about Zenna.
Zenna quickly became best friends with our Chocolate Lab, Noodle Head (Suzie) and tried to play with our other dog Barney, but she found out Barney is too old to play. Zenna and Noodle love to chase each other around the yard. They both are talkers and at times it sounds like there are bears in the yard playing.
Furry Bottoms did a wonderful job helping us find a dog that would work with our family. They followed up with us and when we were having a problem Linda came to our house to help us out (she did a wonderful job).
To help Zenna with some of her fears we took her to obedience class and it was amazing to see her progression. We realize Zenna is not as out going as some other dogs but she tries to be very brave and to put her best paw forward. When Zenna looks into our eyes you can see her love and trust for us. When she lies next to us or even sits on our lap you can feel her happiness.
We love Zenna very much and are grateful to Furry Bottoms for helping us find her. In fact we are so pleased with Furry Bottoms we are looking at adopting another dog from them.

Gracie (formerly Princess Rosie)
Here are some pictures of Lucy Lu, and Gracie (Princess Rosie). They make quite a pair! The two of them have really become buddies! Gracie definitely brought Lucy out of her shell. Since Gracie is so outgoing, she has helped Lucy become a little more comfortable around strangers. Lucy was a puppy mill dog who used to be afraid of everything. She would even run away from a blowing leaf. Lucy is still the boss of the house, but she lets Gracie snuggle with her at night. I get a lot of heads turning when I take them on walks together. Since they both lack hair, people are not sure what to think. I do have to say that Gracie has grown a lot of hair since I adopted her. She has a very soft, Mohawk up her back. Her skin has also cleared up a little more. Both girls are healthy. Gracie has her dental issues, but it doesn't stop her from eating. They love to eat, bark at squirrels, hunt moles, and chase the cats. They visit my mom's dog (their uncle, Jake), and occasionally spend the night. They experienced camping this summer, and they prefer warm weather. Both girls hate snow, and Gracie can't stand her feet getting wet. She will balance on her front legs to pee when there is snow on the ground. It is quite a sight. We still have potty issues (both girls), but I bought the potty patch from TV, and they are starting to get the hang of it. I could go on and on about both girls. I love them both, and I can't imagine not having them. They are high maintenance, but I think that's why I love them even more. Oh yeah, Gracie also has her own wardrobe since she is bigger than Lucy. She has pajamas, t-shirts, tank tops, sweaters, hoodies, and coats. I thought your daughter would appreciate that! Take care, and keep up all of the good work that you are doing!
Carrie, Lucy Lu, and Gracie too!

Gonzo
Since coming into our lives in early October, Gonzo has brought much laughter and fun into our lives. Everybody loves his sweet personality and how playful and fun loving he is. Gonzo has helped to ease some of the sadness since the recent passing of our old dog Maxx. He has helped us to smile and remember the good times with our old dog and to look forward to new times with Gonzo.
We are looking forward to teaching him to open presents at Christmas and teach him to go sledding when we have more snow. Gonzo has not been with us long, but we couldn't imagine our home without him.

Zues
Zues fits into our lives perfectly! He's like our 5th child, except he's never mad at his Mommy or Daddy and he's always happy to see us!

Tipper
We would love to have Tipper on the success page because he is such a successful and welcomed addition to our family. He is the joy we come home to every day after work, tail wagging so hard his entire body is moving. He's well-behaved, so we hardly ever have to correct his wrongs, which is great for us because we feel so bad when he knows he's done something wrong most the time he runs to his kennel and punishes himself, which is cute at the same time. We honestly could not picture our life without him, he fits so perfectly with us.
Here is a picture from a fishing trip we took up north last summer. Tipper liked to lay under the life jackets and supervise while we fished. And the second is from the dog park, he loves to run in the long grass.

LiLi (formerly Lilo)
We picked up Lili (aka Lilo) last September after having to put our other dog to sleep. She was a very timid dog, afraid of sudden movements and most people. She has come such a long way since then. She is a very friendly dog and responds well to everyone now, even the cat! The vet and staff especially cannot believe the change in her. She spends her nights sleeping with me and her days with my husband sleeping and running.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have this wonderful dog in our lives and for all you do for animals.

Here is a picture of Splash looking to go outside to play with the neighbor dogs. We love her and she makes us laugh everyday.

Peaches (formerly Millie)
Here is my Peaches, who was named Millie when I got her in August. She is now 6 months old and has brought such joy to our family. Peaches loves to run in the snow and play with Nellie, our older dog. She loves to chew on chew toys, and her favorite toys are the kind that squeak. She carries those everywhere.
Peaches is fairly well trained, and has just recently learned not to jump on people. She shakes with her left paw so is a southpaw. Peaches is my true companion and I love her very much. Our whole family loves Peaches.
|
Sweed
Here are a few pictures of Sweed and his big sister. I am so glad that I adopted him. He is such a big joy to have as part of my family. He has so much character and personality and boy he wants everybody to love him and usually everybody does. Enjoy!!!!

Chezzie
I have often wondered why a six week old puppy was rescued from the Celina Ohio area, a year and a half ago. Without her mother or any brothers and sisters she somehow was found and brought by Furry Bottoms Rescue to Wisconsin.
I will be forever grateful to Furry Bottoms and her foster family for rescuing her and taking such good care of her. I can't imagine life without Chezzie and our eight year old beagle Allie. They are a big part of our life. They go everywhere with us and especially enjoy the many camping trips that we take.

Cooper (formerly Toller)
We adopted Toller one of Rosa 's puppies about a month ago, we have renamed him Cooper. Cooper and my son get a long great and are enjoying each other. Cooper seems to be adapting very well and enjoying his new home. He is already potty trained and knows sit, we are know working on other commands. He enjoys his crate where he sleeps and is put in when no one is home. He loves our small fenced in area and has dug some holes but we don't mind since we consider this his area. My husband is working on building him a dog house where he can hide out when it's raining or snowing while he's waiting to do his business.
Thanks, Susan Schmidt

Gracie
Here are a few recent pic's of Gracie. She's 23 pounds and doing great! Totally spoiled and has been such a blessing!
Thanks again for all you do!!!
